This Montenegro liqueur is bitter, sweet and citrusy all at once. First are the zesty flavors of an orange. Next come the bitter and herbaceous notes of coriander, oregano, artemisia and marjoram. Finally, the sweet tones of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves finish it off.
Amaro Montenegro is a traditional amaro distilled in Bologna, Italy. It is made from a secret blend of 40 botanicals including vanilla, orange peels and eucalyptus. The amaro was first produced by Stanislao Cobianchi in 1885 and was originally called Elisir Lungavita.
