AROMA: The nose is much lighter than Bond & Lillard. The antique store note I get on many WT products pops out to the front followed by sweet vanilla, aged wood, black pepper, and cream soda.
PALATE: Fresh cut oak, vanilla extract, mown hay, subtle smoke. This is definitely an effortlessly drinkable whiskey. The palate screams "drink me" and would tend to be enjoyed by someone who likes the woodsier notes in bourbon. What I love about this bourbon is that I can very clearly tell exactly who made it. The Russell's do such a fantastic job with this one it's hard to say anything bad about it.
FINISH: The finish is LOOOOOOONG on this one. It's sweet, smokey, oaky, peppery. It's everything hardcore WT fans love about their distillate.
OVERALL: I really enjoy this bourbon. I'm glad I have a few bottles of this on the shelf. Being a 375mL bottle is a bit off a hassle and the price, as with the rest of the Whiskey Baron Series is always a concern. This is a bottle you might still be able to find on the shelf as it, along with Bond & Lillard Batch #2 are still in production. That being said, this is still a great bourbon to sip on and share with friends and family.
