An unusual name that conceals yet another story told by Angelo Gaja in the bottle: the Barolo Dagromis pays homage and thanks on the label to the Gromis family, owners of the vineyard grafted to Nebbiolo in La Morra until Gaja bought it in 1995. Now supplemented by those from selected vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, the grapes used for Dagromis best express the combination of the two chosen terroirs. Produced from Nebbiolo vines with predominantly southern exposure, grafted onto soils consisting of clay-limestone marls at altitudes varying between 300 and 450 meters above sea level, it undergoes an initial separate vinification with aging in barrels for 12 months before being racked into large barrels after blending and resting an additional 18 months before bottling. A decidedly intense ruby red, it presents a broad, multifaceted and elegant nose that ranges from a bouquet of red roses to currant, cherry and red plum, followed by hints of herbs, underbrush and licorice roots, with a balsamic note on the finish. In the mouth the attack is vigorous and well balanced by velvety tannins, a general freshness and a very persistent mineral finish.

Dagromis is a rich, elegant and opulent Barolo, very straightforward and direct in tasting and that well accompanies structured courses or the most important convivial and meditative moments always making one perceive the touch of Angelo Gaja, one who leaves nothing to chance in the bottle.
